DEFINITION OF INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE
Industrial heritage consists of the remains of industrial culture which are of historical, technological, social, architectural or scientific value (Nizhny Tagil Charter, 2003).

These remains consist of buildings and machinery, workshops, mills and factories, mines and sites for processing and refining, warehouses and stores, places where energy is generated, transmitted and used, transport and all its infrastructure, as well as places used for social activities related to industry such as housing, religious worship or education (Nizhny Tagil Charter, 2003).

IMPORTANT VALUES OF INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE
I. The industrial heritage is the evidence of activities which had and continue to have profound historical consequences. The motives for protecting the industrial heritage are based on the universal value of this evidence, rather than on the singularity of unique sites (Nizhny Tagil Charter, 2003).

II. The industrial heritage is of social value as part of the record of the lives of ordinary men and women, and provides an important sense of identity (Nizhny Tagil Charter, 2003).

III. It is of technological and scientific value in the history of manufacturing, engineering, construction, and it may have considerable aesthetic value for the quality of its architecture, design or planning (Nizhny Tagil Charter, 2003).
STRATEGY FOR ADAPTIVE REUSE
This strategy aims at reusing the complex of tunnels, which truly are a spectacle in themselves, in a way that secures a sustainable future for the years beyond 2050. By providing a new use, the tunnels will receive an opportunity for a “second chance”. This will prevent the tunnels from entering into an irreversible phase of drastic deterioration, and from becoming neglected again in the future. It will have a constant flow of dynamic activity throughout, naturally adding different levels of security and interest.

Found at the heart of Jesuits Hill, which was the area designated as a multi-cultural nucleus during the earlier strategy phase, these tunnels possess the perfect setting and atmosphere for an underground music complex. This use was determined as fitting, due to the fact that music is considered to be one of the most diverse and multi-cultural art forms in existence.
